Adrian School District
Blue and Gold Parent Teacher
Organization (PTO)
I. General Information.
A. The Blue and Gold Parent
Teacher Organization will focus on enriching the lives of the students in the
Adrian School District by providing support, pride and enthusiasm for their
educational and recreational needs. The Organization will provide monetary
support for materials and services that benefit the students and teachers in
the District.
B. All parents and legal
guardians of students who are currently enrolled in the Adrian School District
and all staff of the Adrian School District are eligible for membership in the
Organization. Community members are welcome. There is no membership fee.
C. At least one meeting will be
held each month that school is in session. Meetings will be held on the first
Thursday of the month unless announced otherwise. Other meetings can and will
be scheduled as deemed necessary. The time and place of all additional meetings
will be announced at least 7 days prior to the meeting.
II. Officers.
A. The President is the
principle executive officer of the Organization and shall supervise and control
all the activities of the organization. The President is a voting member of the
Organization. The President is authorized to enter into contractual agreements
for materials or services on behalf of this Organization. The President may
authorize any officer of the Organization to enter into contractual agreements
for materials or services.
B. The Vice President, in the
absence of the President, will perform the duties of the President.
C. The Secretary will produce
and maintain a complete report of the business conducted by the Organization.
The Secretary shall see that all notices regarding upcoming meetings are
announced, and in general, perform all duties as assigned by the President.
D. The Treasurer will have
charge of and be responsible for all funds of the Organization. The Treasurer
shall make disbursements as authorized by the President. The Treasurer shall
present a written financial report at each meeting of the Organization and at
other times as requested.
III. Voting.
A. All members are voting
members.
B. A majority vote of all the
members present at any meeting is required for the Organization to approve of
an action.
IV. The Organization
welcomes requests for funds from teachers and other members of the Adrian
School District staff. All persons requesting funds are asked to appear in
person at a regularly scheduled meeting to present their request to the
membership.
V. These
Bylaws may be altered, amended or repealed and new Bylaws may be adopted by the
membership at any regular or special meeting of the Organization.
VI. If any part of
these or any future Bylaws conflict with decisions, policies or procedures
adopted by the Adrian School Board, they shall be deemed null and void. The
decisions of the Adrian School Board will, in all cases, supercede any decision
made by this Organization.
These Bylaws were adopted by the membership by a
majority vote during a properly called meeting on _____________________. These
Bylaws shall take effect immediately.
